One of the reasons I have been depressed is a crush I have on a woman who, for various reasons, is not available to me for a possible relationship. This crush has been very unpleasant, since it is such a hopeless situation, it basically makes me feel like a high schooler mooning over some girl who would never go out with him. It has ruined many weekends and taken the pleasure out of most activities.

Lately I have been tapering off the Serzone in preparation for trying Paxil - I am down to 250 mg/day now from 550 mg/day - and the crush is returning! For the first time in months I am mooning over this woman again. It is most distressing! I am hoping the Paxil will banish these feelings again when I go on it.

Hi Joe,

Boy, do your symptoms sound familiar! Probably to almost everybody on this board at some time in their lives...

My question is: if the Serzone was helping you stop obsessing about this woman, why are you going off it? I know you are needing a social anxiety drug, but can't Paxil and Serzone be taken together? I am not sure, but others on this board may know...
So many people take some really wild "med cocktails," I wonder if you could just take both?
Anyway, talk to the dr, you do NOT have to live with the obsessive thoughts about this woman, and maybe in 6 months or so, go off the Serzone as a trial to see if you can stop obsessing on your own...

I know it is painful, this "high-school crush" feeling. But it is a real feeling, and you are brave to talk about it. I wish you luck with the meds, and write back if you need to... There are many people who are obsessives on this board.
Yours,
Wendy
