new to Straterra

My son-17 yrs-just started taking Straterra two days ago and has serious dry-mouth-so far. How long does it take for these side effects to subside? I also wonder if a lot of you are having problems because you have been on other drugs? He hasn't been on anything for 7 years. With all these complaints-its scary-I wonder if we should continue to give it to him????
