I was told to make sure I got enough vitamin B6, but I thought it was to prevent deficiency rather than to increase the efficacy of the Marplan. But--did your doc prescribe a particular brand or dosage or just "B-100"?> And something really weird: My pdoc said that when patients reach a theraputic level they stop dreaming! And they don't sleep as much as they had before. So he's having me monitor my dreams. Apparently MAOIs affect REM sleep but not in a harmful way.

TCAs also suppress REM sleep. When I quit taking desipramine I had intense dreams for about 10 days, as a kind of rebound effect. When my chronic fatigue syndrome acts up my sleep is really bad. I think the problem is getting enough deep sleep, not REM sleep. I don't know if this is true for depression or just cfs.> I'm at 25 mgs now which he says is "nowhere near a theraputic dose". He wants to get me up to 40 mgs and see what happens. I may have gotten a bump at the lower dose because of the bipolarity.

I went up to 20 mg. today and I feel like a zombie. I'm not sure if it's the Marplan or the depression. I'll be splitting the dose (morning/evening) starting tomorrow. Often it's hard for me to tell what's affecting my moods. Could be anything or nothing.> I'm so glad that you're feeling somewhat better today.
