i suffered no extra anxiety from effexor. It does provide anxiety relief in a different way, and in fact it has calmed me down. The problem with some people is that the norepinephrine effect at typically over 100mg causes the stimulating effect.
at 37.5 or 75mg you may have anxiety relief, but I think it's short-lived like with most meds {you probably saw some decreased effect over time with xanax too at the same dose}, so increasing the dosage may land you in the stimulating dose range. Effexor works only on serotonin potently at 75mg. However, Effexor is stimulating at any dose for some. For me I sleep a little more and I have to nap even with Provigil in my regimen.
My belief though is that it does and can really work for anxiety.
There could be a concern with adderall and effexor causing serotonin syndrome together. There was a case report in _current psychiatry_
