Having tried Xanax...Zoloft...and finally Effexor
My experience was that all 3 helped somewhat with anxiety...but in the order I listed them as to their effectivness.

I did note a "paradoxial effect" with Effexor, as it held the anxiety at bay...but I did feels it stimulating effects, which for me...was too close to the anxiety condition I was taking it for.

Zoloft COMPLETELY took care of my anxiety and Agoraphobia...unfortunately it also killed my desire to accomplish and zapped me of my WILL to
really live life to its fullest.

So I continue to suggest Xanax, if anxiety is your only real problem
