If you're trying to prevent insomnia, it may be more prudent to take the whole 5mg upon waking, as early in the morning as possible. The later you take a dose the more of an impact it will have on your sleep patterns.
Some others who have taken Parnate may be able to give more input on this matter. I haven't started Parnate yet... I'm waiting 4 weeks for my Prozac to washout. I've read quite a bit about it though and others experiences seem to gel with early morning dosing.
As well, 5mg total may not be enough to cause any significant sleep disruption. I guess you'll have to figure that out once you start it.
