In reply to what meds for ocd now, posted by michael20073 on May 11, 2005, at 21:18:29
> Hello,
> This is my first time posting on this board, or any board for that matter...so I hope I am doing this correctly.
> I have been going to a large hospital system here in the Northeast for some time now for ocd. In the past couple of years I have tried most of the SSRI's. Paxil, Zoloft, Effexor, Lexapro. Effexor was the most effective a couple of summers ago, but I thought I could still feel better if I tried something else.
> Since that time, every SSRI I take causes so much irritation/anger that I can't stand to be on it.
> The physicians mentioned taking Depakote which really has brought down the anger quite a bit. Now they think that I ought to give Wellbutrin a shot.
> I will say that I believe there is certainly some depression mixed in with the ocd and that it fluctuates between anger and just felling poorly about everything (little hope of getting better).
> Does anyone have any suggestions or similiar expereiences?

Sure,You MUST try Anafranil at a dose of 150-300mg for at least 12 weeks -- this is the standard anti-OCD medication...it totally wipes it out in so many people.....also, try antipsychotics in low doses -- Zyprexa, Seroquel, Risperidone....please don't be scared of these meds, they really arent that harmful, esp if taken at low doses. Some people take them for years and years with no problems -- and these are the older antipsycotics which are supposed to be worse!
Try Anafaranil,
Anti-psychotic,
Nardil,
Luvox -- the best SSRI for OCD.Keep happy if possible!
