Effexor was the most effective a couple of summers ago, but I thought I could still feel better if I tried something else.

> I take Depakote for my anger, as you do, and it really seems to people be helping...I would stick with it. I also have OCD that, unfortunately, did NOT respond to the SRIs so a couple years back my pdoc prescribed Anafranil. I only managed to get up to 125mg, which according to ace is just below the therapeutic dose range. I was taken off it during a stay at the hosital...their doctor felt that since I hadn't tried ALL of the SSRIs I ought to give the others a shot. Anafranil just had too many side-effects according to him. Since then I've tried the rest of the SRIs, and all of the atypical APs. None of the atypicals helped, with the exception of Zyprexa. The reason I stopped that was because of the side-effects. I had a lot of trouble thinking which is good in a way, I guess, because people with OCD tend to think too much. But I had trouble carrying conversations...I could never think of what I wanted to say. At least now I only have trouble figuring out how I want to word things. I'm starting Nardil. It's not supposed to be all that effective for OCD, but I have anxieties and depression to worry about and if it alleviates the other symptoms in theory my OCD should lessen.

So have you had any success with reducing your ocd symptoms (other than w/ the anafril). What kind of side effects did you have w/ anafril?
One other thing, have you noticed that your problems with anger are proceeded by a depressed state....and it always seems like the ones that are closest to me take the brunt of all my anger.
Thanks,
Michael
