Hi Daisy,
Even when I take the Xanax during the day, I can't sleep w/o the Ambien. It just takes me from hypervigilant to a normal state of arousal. I have pain issues, which keep me awake too.
I think the thing about Ambien is it's supposed to help more with getting you to sleep, but not neccessarily keeping you asleep for a full 6-8 hours, which is why you don't have the groggieness of other sleeping meds or hypnotics. I usually get 6 hours when I take it. Sorry it didn't work for you, what was your dose? Maybe going back to Restoril, or giving Lunesta a try, would work better for you. Either way, ya gotta sleep, if it were me, since you asked the other day, and she blew you off, I'd call her and tell her you need an Rx for "product x".
