Meds are screwing up my sleep cycle

Posted by KaraS on September 17, 2005, at 22:21:15

No matter what I do I can't seem to get on a normal schedule. I'm usually sleeping during the day and up at night but even then there's no real regularity to the hours. I think that part of the problem is the meds I'm taking. The doxepin makes me so groggy. I'm also naturally quite depressed in the morning and between these two factors, I can't get out of bed. I'll turn off the alarm (sometimes I don't even remember doing it) and the next thing I know it's several hours later.

I use a light box whenever I'm up in the morning hours but I'm not consistent enough with it because I'm usually not awake during the morning hours. I think that the beta blockers I've been taking are making the situation worse because I no longer can use caffeine to keep me awake longer. I think I need to take something instead of doxepin for my anxiety and insomnia (which I have without the doxepin in my system). I'm so frustrated with this situation. I don't know if there's anything anyone can say but I needed to rant about it.
