From my experience in trying many SSRI's, some tend to be calming, while others are stimulating. They actually used different terms than those in the literature I've read on the subject (I can't remember what they were), but thats how I understood it. Prozac has been the most stimulating for me, which is what I needed for my hard to treat depression. Wellbutrin is even more so. Paxil and Lexapro were the most calming, which in my circumstance made me feel terrible.
Of course, meds can work differently on different people, and you can have side effects that go away eventually. It seems like I initially felt jittery on Prozac, but it settled down after a few weeks.
So basically, it depends on if you can stand it long enough to see if it goes away. It seems like my doc gave me Xanax for the initial jitters, but they can be really stingy about that med because it can be addictive. I take it on an as needed basis now and that works fine for me. Some docs wouldn't go for that though.
Oh, and I've found going to a pdoc instead of a family doc to be the best thing I've ever done. They're just alot more knowledgable.
