I have taken 50 mg of diphenhydramine, which is marketed under the brand name Benadryl, while on Nardil. I've had no adverse reactions to combining the two. I seldom take Benadryl, though, because it usually makes me drowsy for about an hour or so, then I get somewhat restless. I'm weird that way I guess.
It's important, as others have said, to read OTC medicines carefully. There are so many combinations of meds out there under each brand name. Cough medicines are the same. Those of us on MAOI's have to make sure there is no dextramathorphan (sp?) in any cough meds we take.
Between reading food packages and meds ingredients, I've become quite good at reading small print under those darned fluorescent lights at the stores.
Take care everyone,
gg
