I had surgery in December 2005 while on Parnate. You definitely cannot be given Demerol. It can be fatal. Big lawsuit case out of NY related to this. I had my surgery at the University of Chicago and met with the anesthesology dept. first so that they were aware. Doctor gave the okay. The actual anesthesiologist I had for the surgery was not happy because it means he has to use other med's. Actually it is not a big deal. They know as well what pain med's are okay. Main point is that everyone is on board and knows what is going on, and you will be fine.
RE Novacane. I seem to recall this is also true; no novacane. There is something else the dentist can use. Unfortunately, I am overdue to go to the dentist, and you remind me I need to make an appointment. Point is, even if you can't have novacane, there is an alternative--the dentist will know or should.
