Hi,
Parnate and Nardil, the most popular irreversible MAOIs in the US, affect both MAO-A and MAO-B. Selegiline in low doses only affects MAO-B, at higher doses it affects both. I'm not sure about the lowest dose of EMSAM, I haven't studied it enough. Nardil is noted for weight gain, in my case massive weight gain. Parnate is more stimulating and usually causes some weight loss. I've only had one trial of Parnate and unfortunately it did not work for my atypical depression. Nardil works for me but really seems to cause a craving for sweet carbohydrates. I believe it also interfers with the feedback mechanism that tells your body when it is full. The only things that have controlled the Nardil weight gain for me are the complete elimination of carbohydrates, or exercising for 2+ hours per day.
Good Luck,
Jedi
