Yeah, that sounds sketchy, but I had a friend who is a chemist at a big northern california biotech company run a sample of the batch I got through his Xray crystallography machine to check the structure. It is legit.
Reference gas chromatography results of the real stuff are floating around on the internet, too - this is a pretty easy test to have done on a batch and easy to compare to the reference results.
If anyone here does try to get some, please have it tested.
I'm trying not to get too excited about this drug. A couple things to give pause: The company took a hit when their alzheimer's drug nsi-556 failed in phase 2 tests. NSI-189 hasn't started phase III yet. Some of these novel ADs crash and burn in phase III after glowing phase II results. Also if this is such a big blockbuster, why hasn't some big pharma bought up this little company as per what usually happens.
It's also been speculated this availability of NSI-189 (before it's even been named as you noted) is one big unethical guerilla marketing campaign. (i.e. leak the drug to people who'll go to any length to find relief via the forums that cater to brain hackers). This seems a bit far-fetched and couple just as easily backfire, too... The only reason I might give this a second of thought is because the batch I got was 1) professionally packaged 2) pretty cheap 3) tested at such a high purity ... plus the vendor was cagey about the name of the supplier that made it (he might just want to protect his profits, though I can't see how he's making any money selling this for 40 bucks for a 2 month supply). But maybe with modern equipment, bootleg synthesis isn't hard or expensive. I don't know.
