It is my opinion that the marijuana plant, and all of the chemicals in it, is maybe one of the most beneficial plants for a wide spectrum of syndromes and diseases. It is dramatically under-utilized.
Clinical studies show that there is an estimated 15% of the population that has a certain gene making them susceptible to bad reactions to cannabis - these are the people where you hear reports of marijuana causing psychosis or depression.
But for the other 85%, I think we are only at the beginning of a discovery process with cannabis as to the vast medical benefits it has.
There are so many anecdotal stories. My own story - one year into Lyme treatment I had zero progress in mood - all that changed rapidly as soon as I started smoking 1 joint a night for the nausea that the antibiotics were causing. I smoked for the munchies! But in addition to that I experience amazing side effects - the antibiotics started really working, mood brightened fast, required longer treatment to hold it, ups and downs - the beginning of TRUE improvement in my life began with the introduction of marijuana for nausea. :-)
It is such a high potential thing that I believe patients who live in non-legal states should consider moving to a legal one. It is just too good of an integrative tool to not have.
Marijuana is improving or curing psychiatric issues, sleep issues, gastrointestinal issues, inflammation issues, infection issues, cancer issues, and more. I think, however, as with all plant therapies, it is the synergy of an integrated program, not single isolated things, which dramatically raises the potential for real long lasting improvement - in other words it should be one of several key players in a protocol, but not a majority player. imo

I noticed some visual effects (tunnel vision, as well as seeming accentuation of patterns). Also, there was a feeling that familiar scenes / objects looked more unfamiliar / interesting. The first day, I noticed some mood elevation, the second day it felt more like a mood stabilizer.

To be honest, it felt like the initial stages of a buspirone dose (i.e. supression of serotonin firing via 5-ht1a autoreceptors). I.e. the background noise stopped and reduced self / other boundries.
