Well, that's one way to make sure you never have to revisit your self-concept. Don't try, that way you can't ever say you won.
But Poet? I don't think you're defective. You can tell me that it's only because I'm so screwed up that I can't even see your essential loserness, but do you really think that's true? Do you really think so little of me?
I know you don't. I also know that the Poet I heard with so much excitement the other day is part of the real Poet. So, of course -- and how I wish this wasn't true! -- is the Poet you're showing right now. I hope you can hold on to the knowledge that both parts of you are real, and keep hoping, keep trying.
Maybe you haven't bought the winning Career Lotto ticket yet, but that's not the same as being a loser. And I have a huge amount of affection for you, no matter what you do for a paycheck.
