Ahhh, yes, those nuances. T-speak.
I always thought "care about" was in the caregiving, altruistic sort of sense. Like "I care about you, and your life, and what happens to you."
And "care for" is more related to personal attachment, i.e. to you.
It's nice to have both from your T :)
"You matter to me" is somewhere in between.
