yeah ... i have a regular brushroll, it has 4 brushes on it, its on a sanitaire commerical line, it sucks the dirt up like crazy. Then i was researching better ways to really dig clean dirt, i discovered the beater bar, it was made in the 1920s by hoover, it beats the carpet with metal and vibrates and causes heat, i tured it all the way down to 1 level, my goodness the carpet looked it was beaten clean. Metal beater hits the carpet so hard that whatever deep is down in there, will defiently come up. The regular metal brush roll wouldnt do that. But still, it doenst leave, it leave streaks but not the kind that makes it look vacuum superbed groomed. I't more like a metal hit clean, read actutally it can damage some types of carpet, because of its desctructive action on hitting dirt. But the only way i found out, the bag, it has so much, its almost completly full, with dust, i have allergen outer bag, and allergen inner bag to make sure everything clean air coming out. The bag is so full within 2 weeks of vacuuming every 3 days. So that defeintly does show it beats down deep, but it doenst make the carpet look as groomed, as regular vacuums do. This is a sanitaire vacuum, there other older hoover vacuums that had beaters on them. Back in the day, they use beaters anymore. Too expensive to make heavy chunk of metal anymore, on a brush roll. It was 60$. There many more that are more expensive.
