I could write a lot on this too! I read this board a lot, but don't post much because I communicate better in person.
I like to smoke because of the illusion that it relieves my antyness and makes me feel better in general. However, I think it might be partly creating the antsyness & in the long-term makes me feel less in control.
I've been working on quitting recently due to a medical test that nicotine interferes w/. Now I am trying to stay quit. I don't know yet the perfect method for me, but what worked tonight was trying to quit "for that particular moment only." I tend not to be a big prayer of prayers, but when I was tempted I said "Lord help me to not smoke in this moment" or something several times like a mantra. Anyway, it helped me resist a very powerful urge and did make the whole thing more manageable at that particular point.
