> I've been diagnosed with depression, GAD, OCD, and social anxiety. My pdoc has me on 16 mg of Gabitril, 200 mg of Lamictal, 75 mg of Paxil CR, and 5 mg of Zyprexa. He plans on lowering the dose of Zyprexa once I'm stable on Gabitril. I was also prescribed 400 mg of Neurontin a few weeks ago, to prevent me from having seizures due to my sudden discontinuation of Xanax. My pdoc thinks that I've given up on Neurontin, but I feel that it may help my social anxiety. It is a GABA analog, and some neurons that respond to Neurontin are GABAergic. Gabitril seems to help with GAD, as it is a GABA reuptake inhibitor. I'm thinking that, considering both work on GABA...this could be a killer cocktail. Zyprexa helps minimally in regards to the OCD, but I seem to slur my speech from time to time. I also have difficulty with finding the right words to fit given situations...it's a little irritating. I'm thinking, drop Zyprexa and go for Neurontin...what do you guys think?
hi there, chemist here...5 mg of zyprexa is in the noise level, you are experiencing positive effects with gabatril, and the only thing that worries me is that your doctor abruptly discontinued xanax, which should be tapered very slowly. that said, the gabatril seems to be working, as does the gabapentin....you have avoided benzos - which is great - and seem to know what the efficacy of the meds you are taking is relative to your condition. i think you are spot-on, and all the best wishes, chemist
