I don't think it's the fish, at all. It was an accidental exposure to something that was contaminated with little nasty critters.
I'd forget about the elimination diet concept altogether. Did the doctors say you could take an antispasmodic, e.g. Lomotil or Imodium? Peptobismol can help settle things down, too.
