I personally think the article is kind of over stimplistic. I think anyone that had a dramatic repsonce to magnesium would continue to take it long term. It doesn't make sence that if the substance indeed induce remission that a person would continue to denounce such claims.
I am not going to say that magnesium deficiancy may not cause and or exaserbate certain forms of depression, but I have used magnesium supplements with only some response.
Additionally, if the doses got too high, I experienced more depression.
Imballences of many nutrients can lead to depression. It is not restricted to magnesium. Folate, b6, chromium, senelinum, b12, omega-3, iron, etc etc deficiancies, can cause depression.
