There's no DBT here either, except for one hospital that uses for those in their hospital only.
Formal DBT takes a lot of organization and supervision. It would require a lot of work between therapists and might take a lot of time that couldn't be reimbursed by insurance.
But I imagine a lot of therapist incorporate ideas that are similar to DBT. My therapist doesn't know DBT at all, but he does a lot of the same things. Mindfulness, distress tolerance, etc.
In the past, trying to work on the modules here hasn't worked all that well. But I'd be game to try. I've got the manual too. We could do it here or in chat at scheduled times. It wouldn't be the same as therapy of course. But the manual contains a lot of very helpful information, and even outside a therapy situation there could be benefit in reading about them and trying to apply them to ourselves. Or better yet, reading about them ourselves and discussing how they may be helpful to us with our therapists.
But the portions that have to do with therapist support and consequences couldn't really be done in self help or peer groups.
