I want to experiment a little with psychedelics. Since I have no way to get something safer to use like LSD, I'm thinking of using DXM (dextromethorphan hydrobromide). Does anyone know if the risks for serotonin syndrome are significant? I'm taking 30mg of citalopram (Celexa). How dangerous would it be for me to say, reach the 3rd plateau or something with DXM? Also, I'm thinking of extracting the DXM from DXM + guaifenesin preparations. I'm thinking of using a dual phase acid base extraction. Would the end product be ok to ingest?

> Shy_Girlhello there, chemist here...i am not aware if you are a u.s. resident, but DXM is a scheduled substance here. this might be a bit of news for some folks, as it is sold without prescription in various over-the-counter (usally) anti-cough preparations. small doses are deemed legal, and thus the dual listing of DXM (and LXM)...
given your ``clean living,'' if you will, thus far i am curious as to why you are interested in experimenting with drugs at this stage in your life....
without going into any detail, i would strongly urge you to abandon your plans for isolation of DXM and subsequent ingestion.
all the best, chemist
