As to ways to dealing with anxiety, I've been on a really low dose of Xanax for over 4 years now (at .5mg per day) and it keeps a handle on my formerly unmanageable anxiety and panic attacks. I've gone back to my weekly yoga practice - a stress buster class; and each night I do a mindfulness exercise as part of my getting-ready-to-go-to-sleep ritual.
I enjoy using aromatherapy for relaxation and always have some lavender handy for a quick whiff. I have an extensive library of CDs of ambient music, nature sounds, and guided meditation. It's a little bit of finding the combination that works best for you - those are some of the things that have helped me.
