I have been on all 3 of the MAOI's for over 25 years and have found each of them a Godsend. The 3 drugs in this class (until Emsam which is coming out next month) are Nardil, Marplan & Parnate. I was on Marplan until it was realized that I was slightly bipolar which made Parnate the drug of choice but it is the least likely to cause mania and is safe for bipolars. It is very activating and causes weighloss on a whole whereas Nardil tends to cause weight gain and Marplan is somewhat weight neutral. But ymmv. Any more questions, fire away :-)
