Well tonight I start a new experiment...
I have realised that I don't want to be just "not depressed" but what I really want is to be happy. Just pleasantly, for no good reason happy.
That got me to thinking about what it is that makes happiness in the body and I realised I couldn't really reconcile happiness with whatever effects I've ever felt from manifpulating the various neurotransmitters.
I got to thinking about anandamide and whether there might be a way to help the body synthesise it ... turns out it may just be possible.
It is a rather simple process of providing enough arachidonic acid (present in small amounts ONLY in animal fats, (but the body converts it from Omega Six GLA - DGLA - AA)) and the acyl groups from phophatydilcholine and phosphatydilethalanoamine (both abundant in lecithin) in an environment of high Ca2+ to catalyse the conversion.
Experiments with piglets indicated that without doubt that increases in these key compunds can increase endogenous cannabanoids substantially.
So its down the hatch with a whole bunch of evening primrose, lecithin and calcium with a good fatty meal of lamb roast!
Fingers crossed! I'll let you all know if it works.
The danger is that the choline will worsen depression, though I've taken lecithin before and not experienced this, however with purer choline I have.
Another danger is that the high Arachidonic Acid will make my inflammation problems worse and I also have to cut out Quercetin while I do this because it inhibits COX2 which is what the body uses to convert DGLA to Arachidonic Acid.
